About Inverness

Inverness is located in Marin County north of San Francisco, and is the last community before entering the vast Point Reyes National Seashore. This is an area of over 72,000 acres of wilderness, beach and ranchland, but with dozens of fine hotels, cozy cabins, inns and high quality bed & breakfasts. Inverness and the surrounding West Marin villages of Point Reyes Station and Stinson Beach have quaint specialty shops and art galleries, and many restaurants, gourmet foods and deli shops. Approximately twenty minutes from Inverness is the Point Reyes Lighthouse, one of the best whale-watching points on the Pacific Coast. And the Point Reyes National Seashore offers Field Seminars, 147 miles of hiking trails, biking and horseback riding and beachcombing. Inverness has a full calendar of sailing races in the summertime, foot races on the 4th of July, and swimming lessons at Shell Beach. Other nearby points of interest includes Stinson Beach, Muir Woods, the Marine Mammal Center, and the city of San Francisco is just a short drive away.
